Default Assassin's Chi build up

I was able to test the assassin profession, and realized there is one issue that stood out for me. All assassin skills require energy. In my opinion, this limits an assassin's attack to quick bursts of offense and very low energy afterwards. I think that assasin skills should have some sort of unit build up, like warriors have adrenaline. Of course, not for all skills, but at least some. Possibly having 'chi' build up, rather than adrenaline, in light of the overall asian theme. Yes, I know, technically building up chi requires relaxation and concentration, and building up chi in the middle of a fight counteracts the overall idea. But something along the lines of adrenaline build up for some assassin skills, and energy usage for the more devastating ones.

.. eh.

Not me, no.

I like the energy issue as it is.

Kind of makes me think that assassins were designed for a one combo - one kill idea. ;P

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Assassins gain energy for Critical Hits? And don't they have an attribute that increases their chance for Critical Hits?

Wouldn't this mean the more I sit there and pound on someone, the more energy I should be getting back. Granted, that if I use some skill that takes away a large chunk of my energy that I won't be getting it back as fast as I would if I was just spamming 5e skills.

I didn't do much with Assassins yet in either the PvP or the FPE events, so please don't take what I'm saying as completely true and correct.

Don’t forget the assassin armor out there that will boost your energy level. As far as dual welding I am not sure if there is any energy bonus on them.

Yea I didn't have much time to go in-deph with it, so gaining energy from hits is something that passed me by ^_^.

Overall, the attack animations are awesome. Can't wait to start an assassin up on April 28th.

I didnt have much problem with energy with my Assassin but I think adrenaline skills would be cool for assassins.

I would propose that all the adrenaline skills be designed to be the end of a chain of attacks. They would be something like final thrust that finishes off the enemy after a long chain.

They have 4 energy regen PLUS critical strikes. Attacks are usually 5 energy (which is comparable to sword WARRIOR).

Enough said. No need for chi or whatever.

I didn't have a problem with the energy. If you want an all-assassin solution to the problem, there is an assassin armor type that adds on a grand total of 5 energy, bring you up to 30. After that, you can use your secondary profession to enchant yourself(if you want, balthazars spirit, but any enchantment works) and then you can use Golden Lotus Strike. Basically, it heals your energy. If you're STILL having a problem with energy, make a build using skills that use only 5 energy each. I did such a thing in the FPE(excluding my apply poison skill...) and it worked great, in PvP and PvE. I never once had to stand around in a fight waiting to regain enough energy to attack again.

I like Chi... but it is too late to change it for Assassain... as well as not really much a need for it.

Energy is just a counter balance to Assassin's hard hitting skill. I didn't really play as one, but to my knowledge, you just need to better manage your critical attacks, which you can get energy from. Also they do have 4 pip of energy regen. Or you can also go as a Elm/Assassin build.

Assassins have decent energy regen and low to normal energy cost skills. It is similar to ranger so it has no real use for adrenaline. Energy is good enough so no need to give them an additional adrenaline type feature.

Wild Blow is very useful on a Zin.

They are not going to do well in low number battles. They really shine in 12v12 when there are many targets. Ganking NPCs are just sitting ducks for Zins.

Not signed - altough it's a nice idea. I like the way you can shut down assassins as a mesmer, it gives the mesmer versatility.

I too wished assasins had adreniline like the warrior, it makes sence that the melee classes use adreniline (or chi or whatever) I think that would have been awesome to include it for the assasin. But if it works like it currently does I guess its ok too :P

Well, yes, the answer is that the assassin's primary atribute has the effect of making her able to build energy.

With respect, adrenaline, together with energy and, may be exhaustion, which are the 3 parameters for chi in Guild Wars, it has been suggested a profession named Martialist and Martial Artist.

Martialist (by me)
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...d.php?t=136167

Notice the primary atribute, and there is room for a build with adrenaline skills.

Martial Artist by Nevin
http://38.99.233.252/forum/showthread.php?t=135081

With respect whether the Assassin and the Martialist comparison...

The Assassin is like a ninja, as the Assasin has Shadow Arts, which are a key to understand her ability to stealth. The Assassin relays heavely on her own actions, on causing effects on her targets, and on her ability to move around. The Assassin, Ninja, may be rooted in Japanese's culture topics.

The Martialist is a fighter, relies on reacting properly to her targets actions, to get profit from her targets actions and energy, and as a master of chi, her own chi management might include an adrenaline section when using weapons (this is my suggestion). The Martialist may be rooted in Chinese's culture topics.

Ahh... I was expecting that the Assassin had some type of cloth armor... I have found leather armor only... Think the appearance of my Assassin's armor looks to me cloth rather than leather.

Leader: Time to carry out a surprise attack!
Assassin: Aye my lord!
Leader: NOW IS THE CHANCE!!
*Assassin death charge to the target*
Assassin: Wait till you see me build my chi up!
Leader: WTF!? YOU AREN'T SUPPOSE TO BE BUILDING UP NOW!! YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO ATTACK!
Assassin: Don't blame me, I can't help it.
Opponent A: Wait, wait... wait...... This was suppose to be a surprise attack?
Opponent B: Not anymore I guess.
Opponent A: Ok, whatever... I am ready, let's just kick their arse.
*dead Assassin*
Opponent monk: I don't think I was needed...

The whole point of the assassin is a flash in the pan. The price they pay for instant atack, with no build up, is a longer recovery period.
